Over time I was able to begin predicting and noticing patterns in behaviour with the barn owl family.
Having watched this owl fly into to a small gap in the top of the barn, vole in hand ready to feed its chicks, i knew it wouldn't be long before it flew out again.
I predicted it would leave via the barn door and positioned myself accordingly.
I wanted to try and capture an element of movement and so dropped my shutter speed a little lower and waited to see if my prediction would be right.
After a few minutes i was rewarded with this shot, slight motion in the wing and the most beautiful backlight shining through the window.
