Face off is one of those images that i am myself in awe of.
I've been documenting this barn for 4 years, the little owls have been an ever present face but this year they reached breeding age and their whole behaviour changed.
For a brief span of a few weeks, they became incredibly territorial.
'Face Off' at its core is an incredibly simple print of two parents, one little owl, one barn owl, both doing their best for their offspring.
The barn owl bringing food into the barn and the little owl defending what it assumes to be it's territory.
Both won, for within the barn walls away from human eyes, both raised successful clutches of owls, 3 little owlets and 5 barn owlets.
Eventually a mutual respect seemed to be reached, but for a few weeks there was war at the barn!
